Green beans have trace amounts of cyanide in them. Small amounts will not kill them simply information technology is poisen and you should avoid giving them raw green beans if possible.

Don't worry nearly it. Shoot I've eaten raw light-green beans, a turkey ate one-half of a 3 foot round ruhbarb plant (oxalic acid), leaves and all never getting sick. Got to 50lbs and made a fine repast. Chickens eat styrofoam, nails, dried rice, onions, tomato plant leaves, apple seeds (cyanide), and nearly every "no good" nutrient on the "practice non feed" list in some amount every bit they free range. Avocado hasn't fifty-fifty made them sick. Granted, if they notice they do non similar something, like onions, love apple leaves or ruhbarb leaves, they tend to exit information technology lone. Modest quantities of even things containing low toxin levels won't injure, just don't make it their unabridged diet.

I agree, shoot my bird head to the Soybean field every morning and I don't run into them till nighttime.
When canning season comes in total diddled and we start canning Greenish Beans the Caprine animal and Chickens get all the ends (nearly a two and a half gallon bucket full some times more twice a calendar week) been doing this for ten years with no ill affects.

I didn't know greenbeans are poisonous and take given them to our girls several times. They oasis't been sick a 24-hour interval in their seventeen weeks of life. I wait it is ok in moderation.

I got 2 boxes of sad looking light-green beans from the grocery shop, I cut them into bite sized pieces, the girls gobbled them all upwardly w/ no ill furnishings at all what so ever, so give em the beans & enjoy the show!
